I am also a locomotive engineer for the Crystal Springs & Cahuenga Valley Railroad. The railroad is operated by the Southern California
Scenic Railroad Association for the Travel Town Museum at Griffith Park in the city of Los Angles. The organization is totally volunteer staffed and operates in partnership with the museum and the city of Los Angles.

My Travels with Charley The story of how you too can become a railroad person.
This is the M 177, a 1928 ATSF doodlebug motor car being restored. Seen here as it was in June 1997.
It was actually being propelled from behind by engineer Jim Vicars with Charley our switch engine. Charley Atkins (named for the founder of the Travel Town Museum) is a 1942 EMD switch engine. There were only 12 ever built and this one has never been out of service.
The CS&CV Railroad gives free rides to the public, using this train with the SP & ATSF cabooses, the first Sunday of each month. Since operations began (94 operating days), over 65,000 passengers have been carried.
The other operational locomotive for the railroad is the ex California & Western # 56. This is a 120 ton Baldwin built in 1955. It has a 6 cylinder 1200 horsepower diesel. This is a fun engine to operate.
