Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad

1998 Railfan Day

The Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad Railfan Appreciation Day featured all five locomotives on the train. These are the photos from that day.

2-8-2T #17 departs Elbe

Shay #11 pulls a empty log train up grade

With Climax # 10 as helper on the rear

2-8-2 #15 pulls a boxcar train through the S curves.

1999 Railfan Day

The weather had been perfect for two weeks but when we got up that morning:

It was raining and would rain all day

#5 2-8-2 and #17 2-8-2T depart Freighthouse Square, Tacoma bound for Frederickson Jct and on to Scookumchuck Jct before retuning. A trip of 80 miles including a run up the steep Tacoma Hill.

While #15 2-8-2 ran the shuttle train to Fife

Due to the rain and lack of time, we got only one photo run by.

But I did get a nice close up of #5
